A Blue Eagle Year to Remember
I really never had a chance to write or blog this year that’s why i’m taking advantage of this time off to at least put some things in my tumblr account. Hmm.. Why not start with one of my favorite teams ’ The Ateneo Blue Eagles ’ (Obviously, you would know why i really support this team.. It’s the ATENEO way).
Many people think before the UAAP season started that FEU would dominate the season. However, i still had faith with my Blue Eagles and i still predicted that they will finish this season as champions, which obviously they did. FEU fans will say that if their Tamaraws did not lose Barocca, they will end up as champions. Well they may have their own case but even if Barocca was around, i don’t think they would have beaten UE in the Final Four or if their lucky enough to make it in the finals, beat the Blue Eagles.
It was a tough season for the Eagles even if they had an outstanding record. Rabeh’s weakness was exposed, Buenafe struggled bigtime, Jai struggled until late in the 2nd round and in the playoffs etc.. However, their resiliency and with the guidance of Norman Black they were able to push through and win the most coveted UAAP Championship.
Struggles:
- Buenafe under performed until late in the 2nd round where he found his groove. It was obvious that he was distracted.
- Jai Reyes struggled from the outside until again late in the 2nd round and most importantly in the finals where it mattered most.
- Rabeh’s continuous whining. This guy could play and dominate. Just let go of the bad calls and play ball. For God’s sake, stop WHINING.
What went right:
- Emman Monfort gave Ateneo the outside shooting they needed. Talk about Mike Baldos’ late removal as a blessing in disguise for them.
- Nico Salva —> He is the future of this team. He will be a superstar soon provided the correct direction and training.
- Noy Baclao —> His offense was gone. However, he is a man to be feared with when you drive or try to post him up. He will block your shot. This guy is also very dedicated and hardworking person. He played with a broken finger and he did not make it obvious to the people watching on television. He’s also an A student.
- Rabeh —> Despite his whinings, he is still Rabeh Al Hussaini.
- Eric Salamat —> His defense made it tough for other teams not to be very careful with the Ball when Salamat is guarding.
That’s about it…. I really don’t know what to write anymore since i’m not really good at this. .. but if you appreciate this one.. then good.. Till my next post (Where i would preview the Eagles of next year)
